Humility leads to victory - Han February 13, 2007

About 2 weeks after my father’s death, one more incident happened. There was one particular sister creating some trouble. She was beating someone else. When I said beating, it really means beating! So I tried to stop her but without any warning, she threw a hard punch on my face and my spectacle flew out.

In return I gave her a blow as well. That was probably an automatic response. Oh no! I forgotten she was a girl. Anyway, she doesn’t behave like one. Alright, I know I must be calm and steady but … I am just a mere human being! Alright, I am not perfect, I made a great mistake and I’m still learning.

Immediately she went off and about one hour later, she came back with her dad and a few more men. They came and without finding what actually happened, they gave me a good beating. They took some objects and it all landed on my head, hands and body. At that point of time I did not retaliate other than covering my head with my hands.

At the end we managed to convince them to stop and sit down and talk. They were puzzled why I didn’t fight back. So we explained the whole situation to them. It was his daughter that was here to create trouble. Then only he realized that his daughter has not been bullied but she was the culprit. So her dad agreed that in future if she creates any more problems, He will not get involved anymore!

At the end of the whole incident, we sat down and analysed the whole situation. Indeed, the kingdom of God is not by fists and throwing punches. It is all about caring and loving. The fact that I gave her a punch is totally unacceptable and wrong! It opened out a loophole for them to attack me. But she is the one who started it! Still I am wrong! Well, I repented and asked God for forgiveness.

Many months later, I saw that girl again. When I saw her, I immediately approached her. I asked her to forgive me. I said, “I am sorry for punching you”. I did not feel bitter towards her. She is only a youth. I felt great after apologizing to her. I have done my part. Praise the Lord! In our Christian walk, when we lower down ourselves, admit our mistakes, take the initiative, ask for forgiveness then we can walk in victory.
