God has been looking after our every needs - by Grace Landman February 12, 2008

God has again proved Himself to be faithful and constantly looking after His children.

Over the last couple of months, we’ve been spending a lot due to ministry commitments and personal needs. Being on a single income, it has not been that easy at times, especially when ministry often does cost money (like it or not).

We have recently purchased 2 more baby car seats, one for the new baby coming in September, which is still a long way to go. But since we need to get one for Ethan’s nana, so she could take Ethan in her car without taking the one we have in and out of our car all the time, we decided to get 2 instead.

At the top of our list of things to be purchased was a bed. We were given a second-hand bed when we were married, but the mattress is on its way out. We often wake up with sore back, stiff neck and shoulder, etc. I’ve only just started to put away a small amount every month to save up for the new bed, but as we were helping our friends who were moving to the US cleaning and packing up, she offered us their couple-of-month-old bed!

Although we’ve offered to purchase it off them, they gave the bed to us, free! So that was the first item on the list gone, we didn’t really have to pay for it apart from offering our service in helping them move.

The second item on our list of things was a front loader washing machine. We inherited a 3kg top loader washer from a lady from church who passed away just months before we were married. Not too surprisingly, we have often overloaded the washer, since we tend to do our laundry every 2-3 days so we could get a light-coloured load and a dark-coloured load.

We saw a very good price in the local journal last week and decided that we will empty our savings to buy it. It was in fact a very limited promotion. Even the price tag of the machine in store did not show the promotional price, which was almost $200 cheaper.

We had to mention to the salesman that we’ve seen the ad in the local journal to get the promotional price. We were very happy with the purchase, it was much more water efficient than our previous one. (This is particularly great for us as Australia is having a very long draught.)

Beginning this week, after gradually transferring money from our bank account to pay off rent, various bills and credit card expenses, we were left with little cash. Although we should receive our next payment next week, most of it will go to pay off the rest of the bills and the rest of our credit card expenses. We know we’ll need to be careful with what we buy these few weeks, and we did pray that God will provide for us.

Rather unexpectedly, our friends dropped by yesterday and gave us some cash as reimbursement for what we have paid for them in advance. They were financially tight as well because the wife has changed job and had a month without salary while the husband had to stop work because of his surgery. We told them to only pay us when they could, and we didn’t expect it to be so soon.

Again, God amazed us with how He does provide for His children, and often in the least expected manner. From the bed that we couldn’t afford for yet another few months, to the cash that is to help us get through these few weeks, God has been looking after our every needs.

i really believe that God is faithful…
and when we are faithful in our tithe and offering, He’ll open the heavens and pour out so much blessings that we cannot contain!!

Praise the Lord!
