Since the bible is God’s word to us, the names He chooses in scripture are meant to reveal his true nature. By knowing and understanding His names will bring our relationship closer and deeper in Him. I would like to list out the names of God.
El : God (mighty, strong, prominent)
Elohim : God (a plural noun, more than two, used with singular verbs)
El Shaddai : God Almighty or God all sufficient
Jehovah/Yahweh : The Lord
Jehovah Elohim : The Lord is God
Jehovah Elyon : The Lord God Most High
Jehovah Jireh : The Lord will provide
Jehovah Rophe : The Lord who heals
Jehovah Tsidkenu : The Lord our righteousness
Jehovah Nissi : The Lord our banner
Jehovah Shalom : The Lord our peace
Jehovah Shammah : The Lord us there
Jehovah Rohi: The Lord our shepherd
Jehovah M’Kaddesh : The Lord who sactifies
Jehovah Sabaoth : The Lord of Hosts
Jehovah Tsuri : The Lord our rock
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 (NKJV)
The meaning of God’s name is His nature. The revelation of God’s name produces blessing in our life. We need to know God’s name because His name represent his nature. Read the above verses, it speaks of God’s blessing, faithfulness and protection upon our life only if we know His name.
