Is There a God? February 23, 2010

Does God exist? Here are six straight-forward reasons to believe that God is really there. ~ By Marilyn Adamson

Just once wouldn’t you love for someone to simply show you the evidence for God’s existence? No arm-twisting. No statements of, “You just have to believe.” Well, here is an attempt to candidly offer some of the reasons which suggest that God exists.

But first consider this. If a person opposes even the possibility of there being a God, then any evidence can be rationalized or explained away. It is like if someone refuses to believe that people have walked on the moon, then no amount of information is going to change their thinking. Photographs of astronauts walking on the moon, interviews with the astronauts, moon rocks…all the evidence would be worthless, because the person has already concluded that people cannot go to the moon.

When it comes to the possibility of God’s existence, the Bible says that there are people who have seen sufficient evidence, but they have suppressed the truth about God.1 On the other hand, for those who want to know God if he is there, he says, “You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you.”2 Before you look at the facts surrounding God’s existence, ask yourself, If God does exist, would I want to know him? Here then, are some reasons to consider…

1. Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today. Many examples showing God’s design could be given, possibly with no end.
But here are a few:

The Earth…its size is perfect. The Earth’s size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending about 50 miles above the Earth’s surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter. Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal and human life.

The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the Earth’s position to the sun would make life on Earth impossible. The Earth remains this perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. It is also rotating on its axis, allowing the entire surface of the Earth to be properly warmed and cooled every day.

And our moon is the perfect size and distance from the Earth for its gravitational pull. The moon creates important ocean tides and movement so ocean waters do not stagnate, and yet our massive oceans are restrained from spilling over across the continents.

Water…colorless, odorless and without taste, and yet no living thing can survive without it. Plants, animals and human beings consist mostly of water (about two-thirds of the human body is water). You’ll see why the characteristics of water are uniquely suited to life:

It has an unusually high boiling point and freezing point. Water allows us to live in an environment of fluctuating temperature changes, while keeping our bodies a steady 98.6 degrees.

Water is a universal solvent. This property of water means that thousands of chemicals, minerals and nutrients can be carried throughout our bodies and into the smallest blood vessels.

Water is also chemically neutral. Without affecting the makeup of the substances it carries, water enables food, medicines and minerals to be absorbed and used by the body.

Water has a unique surface tension. Water in plants can therefore flow upward against gravity, bringing life-giving water and nutrients to the top of even the tallest trees.

Water freezes from the top down and floats, so fish can live in the winter.

Ninety-seven percent of the Earth’s water is in the oceans. But on our Earth, there is a system designed which removes salt from the water and then distributes that water throughout the globe. Evaporation takes the ocean waters, leaving the salt, and forms clouds which are easily moved by the wind to disperse water over the land, for vegetation, animals and people. It is a system of purification and supply that sustains life on this planet, a system of recycled and reused water.

The human brain…simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of your keyboard. Your brain holds and processes all your emotions, thoughts and memories. At the same time your brain keeps track of the ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger and movement of the muscles in your hands.

The human brain processes more than a million messages a second.7 Your brain weighs the importance of all this data, filtering out the relatively unimportant. This screening function is what allows you to focus and operate effectively in your world. The brain functions differently than other organs. There is an intelligence to it, the ability to reason, to produce feelings, to dream and plan, to take action, and relate to other people.

The eye…can distinguish among seven million colors. It has automatic focusing and handles an astounding 1.5 million messages — simultaneously.8 Evolution focuses on mutations and changes from and within existing organisms. Yet evolution alone does not fully explain the initial source of the eye or the brain — the start of living organisms from nonliving matter.

2. Does God exist? The universe had a start - what caused it?

Scientists are convinced that our universe began with one enormous explosion of energy and light, which we now call the Big Bang. This was the singular start to everything that exists: the beginning of the universe, the start of space, and even the initial start of time itself.

Astrophysicist Robert Jastrow, a self-described agnostic, stated, “The seed of everything that has happened in the Universe was planted in that first instant; every star, every planet and every living creature in the Universe came into being as a result of events that were set in motion in the moment of the cosmic explosion…The Universe flashed into being, and we cannot find out what caused that to happen.”

Steven Weinberg, a Nobel laureate in Physics, said at the moment of this explosion, “the universe was about a hundred thousands million degrees Centigrade…and the universe was filled with light.”

The universe has not always existed. It had a start…what caused that? Scientists have no explanation for the sudden explosion of light and matter.

3. Does God exist? The universe operates by uniform laws of nature. Why does it?

Much of life may seem uncertain, but look at what we can count on day after day: gravity remains consistent, a hot cup of coffee left on a counter will get cold, the earth rotates in the same 24 hours, and the speed of light doesn’t change — on earth or in galaxies far from us.

How is it that we can identify laws of nature that never change? Why is the universe so orderly, so reliable?

“The greatest scientists have been struck by how strange this is. There is no logical necessity for a universe that obeys rules, let alone one that abides by the rules of mathematics. This astonishment springs from the recognition that the universe doesn’t have to behave this way. It is easy to imagine a universe in which conditions change unpredictably from instant to instant, or even a universe in which things pop in and out of existence.”

Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winner for quantum electrodynamics, said, “Why nature is mathematical is a mystery…The fact that there are rules at all is a kind of miracle.”

4. Does God exist? The DNA code informs, programs a cell’s behavior.

All instruction, all teaching, all training comes with intent. Someone who writes an instruction manual does so with purpose. Did you know that in every cell of our bodies there exists a very detailed instruction code, much like a miniature computer program? As you may know, a computer program is made up of ones and zeros, like this: 110010101011000. The way they are arranged tell the computer program what to do. The DNA code in each of our cells is very similar. It’s made up of four chemicals that scientists abbreviate as A, T, G, and C. These are arranged in the human cell like this: CGTGTGACTCGCTCCTGAT and so on. There are three billion of these letters in every human cell!!

Well, just like you can program your phone to beep for specific reasons, DNA instructs the cell. DNA is a three-billion-lettered program telling the cell to act in a certain way. It is a full instruction manual.

Why is this so amazing? One has to ask….how did this information program wind up in each human cell? These are not just chemicals. These are chemicals that instruct, that code in a very detailed way exactly how the person’s body should develop.

Natural, biological causes are completely lacking as an explanation when programmed information is involved. You cannot find instruction, precise information like this, without someone intentionally constructing it.

5. Does God exist? We know God exists because he pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him.

I was an atheist at one time. And like many atheists, the issue of people believing in God bothered me greatly. What is it about atheists that we would spend so much time, attention, and energy refuting something that we don’t believe even exists?! What causes us to do that? When I was an atheist, I attributed my intentions as caring for those poor, delusional people…to help them realize their hope was completely ill-founded. To be honest, I also had another motive. As I challenged those who believed in God, I was deeply curious to see if they could convince me otherwise. Part of my quest was to become free from the question of God. If I could conclusively prove to believers that they were wrong, then the issue is off the table, and I would be free to go about my life.

I didn’t realize that the reason the topic of God weighed so heavily on my mind, was because God was pressing the issue. I have come to find out that God wants to be known. He created us with the intention that we would know him. He has surrounded us with evidence of himself and he keeps the question of his existence squarely before us. It was as if I couldn’t escape thinking about the possibility of God. In fact, the day I chose to acknowledge God’s existence, my prayer began with, “Ok, you win…” It might be that the underlying reason atheists are bothered by people believing in God is because God is actively pursuing them.

I am not the only one who has experienced this. Malcolm Muggeridge, socialist and philosophical author, wrote, “I had a notion that somehow, besides questing, I was being pursued.” C.S. Lewis said he remembered, “…night after night, feeling whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all of England.”

Lewis went on to write a book titled, “Surprised by Joy” as a result of knowing God. I too had no expectations other than rightfully admitting God’s existence. Yet over the following several months, I became amazed by his love for me.

6. Does God exist? Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God revealing himself to us.

Why Jesus? Look throughout the major world religions and you’ll find that Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and Moses all identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. Surprisingly, Jesus did. That is what sets Jesus apart from all the others. He said God exists and you’re looking at him. Though he talked about his Father in heaven, it was not from the position of separation, but of very close union, unique to all humankind. Jesus said that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father, anyone who believed in him, believed in the Father.

He said, “I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” He claimed attributes belonging only to God: to be able to forgive people of their sin, free them from habits of sin, give people a more abundant life and give them eternal life in heaven. Unlike other teachers who focused people on their words, Jesus pointed people to himself. He did not say, “follow my words and you will find truth.” He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me.”15

What proof did Jesus give for claiming to be divine? He did what people can’t do. Jesus performed miracles. He healed people…blind, crippled, deaf, even raised a couple of people from the dead. He had power over objects…created food out of thin air, enough to feed crowds of several thousand people. He performed miracles over nature…walked on top of a lake, commanding a raging storm to stop for some friends. People everywhere followed Jesus, because he constantly met their needs, doing the miraculous. He said if you do not want to believe what I’m telling you, you should at least believe in me based on the miracles you’re seeing.

Jesus Christ showed God to be gentle, loving, aware of our self-centeredness and shortcomings, yet deeply wanting a relationship with us. Jesus revealed that although God views us as sinners, worthy of his punishment, his love for us ruled and God came up with a different plan. God himself took on the form of man and accepted the punishment for our sin on our behalf. Sounds ludicrous? Perhaps, but many loving fathers would gladly trade places with their child in a cancer ward if they could. The Bible says that the reason we would love God is because he first loved us.

Jesus died in our place so we could be forgiven. Of all the religions known to humanity, only through Jesus will you see God reaching toward humanity, providing a way for us to have a relationship with him. Jesus proves a divine heart of love, meeting our needs, drawing us to himself. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, he offers us a new life today. We can be forgiven, fully accepted by God and genuinely loved by God. He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” This is God, in action.

Does God exist? If you want to know, investigate Jesus Christ. We’re told that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

God does not force us to believe in him, though he could. Instead, he has provided sufficient proof of his existence for us to willingly respond to him. The earth’s perfect distance from the sun, the unique chemical properties of water, the human brain, DNA, the number of people who attest to knowing God, the gnawing in our hearts and minds to determine if God is there, the willingness for God to be known through Jesus Christ. If you need to know more about Jesus and reasons to believe in him, please see: Beyond Blind Faith.

If you want to begin a relationship with God now, you can. This is your decision, no coercion here. But if you want to be forgiven by God and come into a relationship with him, you can do so right now by asking him to forgive you and come into your life. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock. He who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him [or her].”If you want to do this, but aren’t sure how to put it into words, this may help: “Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. You know my life and that I need to be forgiven. I ask you to forgive me right now and come into my life. I want to know you in a real way. Come into my life now. Thank you that you wanted a relationship with me. Amen.”

God views your relationship with him as permanent. Referring to all those who believe in him, Jesus Christ said of us, “I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.”

So, does God exist? Looking at all these facts, one can conclude that a loving God does exist and can be known in an intimate, personal way. If you need more information about Jesus’ claim to divinity, or about God’s existence, or if you have similar important questions, please email us.

About the Author: As a former atheist, Marilyn Adamson found it difficult to refute the continuously answered prayers and quality of life of a close friend. The reasons for god’s existence given above seem laugable to me. The designer theory already outdated and not worth a rebuttal. If you read Richard Dawkins book , ‘ The God Delusion ‘ you will find the brilliant answer to all the argument from ancient to modern time on god’s existence and in chapter 4 , why there almost certainly is no god. I am certainly convince by these scientific and rational argument.
Richard Dawkins latest book ‘ The Greatest Show On Earth ‘ will show you concrete evidences on Darwin.s evolution theory.
The only thing I wish to mention is my impression of this god man called Jesus Christ. I do not think that he is great nor loving but the other way round. For a man to say tha I am the truth, I am the way, this is utter arrogance and impudence. Someone even put it that, a man who say this is either a liar or a lunatic. Budha say ‘ If I do not go to hell, who else will ‘ , now this is true love for mankind. Whereas Jesus will condemn you to hell with eternal torment of fire if you do not kowtow to him. This is not only contemptuous but wicked. This is why Richard Dawkins describes the moral of bible as obnoxious.
The god of old testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, and unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a mysogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomachistic, capraciouslly malevolent bully. The new testament with its central theme of christianity ‘ atonment of sin’ is equally vicious and wicked. It is unthinkable that the so called mighty god will resort to an instrument of torture and execution to save the world. Confucius and budha do not claim divinity simply because they knew that god does not exist. The chaotic world today owe it to this liar or lunatic who claim divinity and whose teaching bred contempt, bigotry and hatred amongst many of the believers who take the bible literally and become equally arrogant and contemptuous of other.
Luckily two third of world population are non christian, otherwise the world will submerge in the ocean of sinners.

Hi YongCK,

Those descriptions you gave are more for the devil rather than for God. God in the old testament is a God of LOVE and JUST. Jesus is indeed the way the truth and the life. He is not boastful nor arrogant, he is just merely stating the fact. Only Jesus points you to eternal life and heaven, no one else!

What’s the point for one goind to hell on your behalf and yet can’t save you? I do applaud the sacrificial love but the wiser one die and save you from eternal comdemnation. Yes, this is Jesus Christ my LOrd. To God be the glory!

The new testament (Acts 9) recorded a man by the name of Saul. He threatened and murdered Christians. Like you, he does not believe in Jesus but one day as he journeyed near Damascus he encountered Jesus.

As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”

So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. Acts 9:3-7

What you require is……an encounter!

An enounter with the true and living God, amen.

3. YongCK - March 6, 2010

Talking about eternal life it is just a wishful thinking. Life is precious exactly because it has a limited span. An eternal life is meaningless. It is a blatan lies employ to fleece the gullible and the blind followers.
Eternal condemnation is the scarce tactics of the wicked organised religion.
Even mother Terresa the world’s most admired personality spoke the truth that she never experienced the god she served before her death ( I recently read an article by Christopher Hitchen revealing the unholy side of mother Terrasa in the Free Inquiry magazine ).
I am very sure that you never have any encounter either, other than your own imagination and self deception.

4. Han - March 6, 2010

God is a God that never lie. Whatever written in the bible will come to pass. Eternal live and heaven are true. You don’t need to see in order to believe. Or else it will be too late! You need the eyes of faith.

God is good. He is not a liar. If my experience is only my own imagination and self deception then no point for me to create this website to share and spread God’s love. You are not me! How can you be so sure I have no encounter?

I have tasted the goodness of God. I have experienced His loving kindness. He has answered my prayer. He has directed my life. I have listened to Him. God is real. No point manufacturing these things! I gain nothing. But it’s difficult for you to believe…because as what the bible says, “there are those who has eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear”.

Honestly, if you don’t believe in the Almighty God, i will loose nothing! But you will loose something…enternal life and heaven. It’s your choice! To accept or not. I will continue to proclaim to goodness and greatness of God.

YongCK, science is used by human to acquire knowledge. Scientists use it to describe & explain natural phenomena via experimentation. It’s operation requires firm & rigid testing through general laws or also called scientific methods understood by human to gather evidence & arrive at findings. If you were to speak to a scientist, you would know that there had been far too many incidences, which cannot be explained scientifically. On these, often statements such as “ a result of unforeseen forces” or simply a “miracle” is used to explain the unexplained. To me, the unforeseen forces that created the phenomena could be equated as from “God”. Unfortunately, science lives no space for “God” as human holds no answer in finding any man-made laws or methodology that could be used to prove the existence of “God”. Hence, the failure to prove the existence of God lies on human & not God. To us science, is purely used by human to pursue knowledge & understanding in the Creation of God. Human has limited capacity & thus are considered second-grade creators as compared to the Mighty Creator. Yes, we can create an aircraft to fly us around the globe & to the ISS space-station or moon & carry us back but definitely we’ll never be able to create an aircraft that will be able to fly us around the universe & back & mind you if you had learned about how the first aeroplane was invented, the whole purpose was in fact to help preach the Gospel. Rather than relying on certain write-ups, books or magazines that you read up, it doesn’t mean that it’s telling the TRUTH! You’ll need to be able to form your own opinion through a process of fact findings or investigation. The existence of these books or articles in the market that u’ve read are merely there to feed on their own lowly, ludicrous & self-centred beliefs.

Your description of Jesus clearly depicts that you’ve never read the Bible yourself. I would suggest strongly that you read the Bible thoroughly yourself before making any offensive & horrid remarks. What you’ve written bears exact resemblance to the Jews recorded in John 7:12 where some said “He is good” while others said “No He deceives the people” & seeks to kill him. Jesus responded “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement” . The fact that the Bible remains the best selling book until today for hundredth of years & being the book most widely translated into different languages to be studied & learned must mean something to you isn’t it. Well, why don’t you try writing your own book & call yourself ”God”. Let me know how many you’ll sell & not surprising that you’ll be described as a “lunatic” or “liar”. Confucius and budha did not claim divinity NOT because they knew that god does not exist but rather because they knew that they can never replace the one true & living God!

As you’ve mentioned, life on earth is short & thus precious. Eternal life meant that life doesn’t just end there yet. You did mention about hell & hope you do believe on this one coz Buddha does. I myself certainly would not want to go near there. The teaching of eternal life simply meant spending the rest of our time with God in the most heavenly place rather then rotting & burning in hell! On Mother Teresa, I wonder how much you knew about her & as your agreement to the article you’ve read clearly shows you haven’t had an inkling on who she was?? My goodness, if you were to follow her doings, read up her books & understood her sayings; one can never find any statements that could substantiate that God was never with her through out her life but the opposite. In fact , on the contrary, she had encouraged everyone to love & put God first! What you’ve picked up from your reading was in fact some letters written by Mother Teresa to certain spiritual Directors describing how difficult she was during her darkest hours or most trying time. Friend, Mother Teresa, myself & others are just as normal & just like you & we all have our most trying times. At times, during the most difficult period it is not uncommon that we would whisper prayers such as “God, where are you, I need you” . The fact that she persevered & spent her whole life up till her last breath serving God & loving God’s people even at her most trying time clearly shows that she had encountered God most of her life & knew who God was so as not to give up. Hence, please do not be naïve & do get your facts right before making any irresponsible remarks especially on someone who had sacrificed much to humanity. (Please also refer back to para 1, last 3 lines as reminder & hope you won’t believe what Mahathir had mentioned recently on how US Govt. had staged the whole of Sept 11 incident )

Our existence is not so much to convince you that God exist, but rather to share to you God’s love like what Jesus did in helping, loving & healing people regardless of race & status. Though much good had been done, Jesus was still rejected by some as recorded in the Bible & similarly, not surprising to us that you would do the same by rejecting Him; - the only difference you chose to ridicule, malign & insult Him via your writing while the wicked others chose to nail Him on the cross! Once, questions were put to a group of hard core communist soldiers raised since birth without any religion on what they’ll do when they are caught in a life-threatening situation in the midst of a battle? The Russian soldiers answered, “We’ll pray to God for help”. I wonder if you’ll do the same.
May God bless you.

6. YongCK - March 15, 2010

Hi, Reuson,
For sure I will not pray to god ( non existence ) for help because it is naive, illogical and irrational. On mother Terresa I wonder how much your know about her true nature other than those surface impression of her mostly cooked up my the church people. I suggest you read Christopher Hitchen,s article on mother Terresa on how shabby the medical facilities she provided for the Indian poors and her connection with the reactionary dictator of one of the South Amercian country. Mother Terresa was rich but she used the wealth amassed to build monasteries around the world.

The very nature of your reply shows that your heart is full of spite because you miss the story of the bible about Jesus’s teaching on turning the other cheek. While I may seem to be hostile to religions, I am only limited to word. While faith head like you ( which is immuned to argument ) may take order from Jesus one day and rise to annihilate those ( often malign as anti-christ ) who disagree. This is not my fear, it is real and already happen all over the world ( religious conflicts ).

Bible stories are immoral according to Chinese standard. Abraham offered his own wife to king of Egypt and even willing to kill his own son to please the capricious god, the incesstous Lot and the drunkard weeklings Noah. These are god’s chosen people, Alas.

Anyway this god that you love is a foreign import, a Hebrew god that has nothing to do with the Chinese people. Merely superstition of another race.

7. Han - March 18, 2010

Hi YongCK, today there is an estimated of 70-120 million China Chinese believe in your so called “foreign import”. Look at the facts below.

Basic Facts About Christianity In China

•In China, there are two official churches: three-Self Patriotic Movement (Protestant) and the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association (Roman Catholics)

•There are around 20-50 million Chinese who are members of the official Chinese churches, with the majority Protestants

•However, most of the Christians in China belong to “house churches” (private gatherings might be more appropriate). Estimates put the population around 70-120 million

•The Christian population has grown exponentially since 1949, especially during the past 30 years. By one account, the Christian population in China in 1997 is 20 times more than it was in 1949. Since 1997, the population has almost doubled

•Overall, about 5% to 10% Chinese call themselves Christians

•In 2007, about 50 million copies of the Bible were printed in China, making it the top nation where the word of God is spread and read

Taken from : http://www.christiansinchina.com/2009/12/12/basic-facts-about-christianity-in-china/

Think about it? This bible that you labeled as “immoral”, this God whom you said as non existence…why is there so many in China embraces Christianity? In the past people often regards Chinese as “traitor” when he/she embraces Christianity but that is no longer the case anymore. Today people tend to say, “See, here is a good Chinese”.

8. YongCK - March 18, 2010

The source you quote is dubious. Another propaganding christian website. For those sizeable Chinese who are being misled into worshiping another race’s ancestral tablet, I would only say that there are both ignorant ( not understanding their own ancestor’s culture ) and pitiful.

Not all christians are bad, but christianity itself is wreaking havoc, bringing conflicts, violence to the world through the chauvinistic preaching of Jesus which denounce and impose his will on other.

The ignonimous and unsavoury reputation of church in western hisotry further testifies the evil nature of christianity.

Another ridiculous things about christianity is that, there are 28,000 denominations in America. If Jesus is still alive today, he will be stupefied at what he sees.

9. Han - March 19, 2010

To you everything that we quoted is dubious but you are just merely sticking your head under the ground, ignoring the fact of Christian development and refusing to see the reality of God.

Honestly, you find ways and means to convince (not us) but yourself on the non existence of God but that vacuum in your heart will continue to scream even louder! For without God life is meaningless and empty.

I don’t see any problem with many denominations, the more the better, just like the dialects among the Chinese community. Many denominations does not equal to division! It’s more of different emphasis and style. Jesus loves them all!

10. Reuson - March 20, 2010

Hi YongCK.
You have a problem in distinguishing between the rights & wrongs. Of coz, with due respect you do reserve the rights to your own beliefs. The facts quoted on China may seem dubious to u but to us the facts have long been outdated, as today, China is known to have produced Christians at one of the fastest growing rate in the world.I wouldn’t mind recommending certain individuals who had witnessed & participated themselves in the development of Christianity growth in China & they would be more than happy to bring u along with them for their missionary trip down China to open up your blinded eyes & hardened heart on whats happening there. Seeing is believing! Of coz, u’ll probably end up labeling the Chinese dumb, ignorant or fools who have been duped.

If Christianity is wreaking havoc, conflicts & the preaching of Jesus imposing on one’s will, then we’ll probably be battling & killing ourselves here in M’sia already & need not look elsewhere. The fact that u’re still able to go to work & come back home alive today demonstrates the highest Agape love that Jesus shares & spread to His people & not as how illfully u had described. By the way which great battle do you have in mind that people suffered because of Christianity??

Today, it is clear that u do bear a grudge against Christianity as pointed out by the fact that u do have a prob. with ONLY 28,ooo denominations in USA. You seem not to have any problems at all with the land of million idols in India & even the thousands of different idols a Chinese worship? Denominations as highlighted to u are merely differences in style & emphasis but truly all are ONE united in Jesus. (Do I need the to get the people from diff. deno. to explain this point to u just to clarify ur doubts??) It is like different clan of hokkien, hakka, cantonese & etc…but ONE Chinese!! & hope u certainly have no probs. with the multi- Chinese race . Understanding religious & race development & its evolvement not to mention Christianity alone but same goes to other race & religions requires great effort & if you’ve not done ur part please reserve making any preposterous comments or u may end up antagonising lots of other races & religions.

Mind you the God that we worship is never a foreign import God & will have everything to do with Chinese. A study of history chinese chaacters & ancient chinese worshipping the Heavens will reveal this. (Many books had been published on this). Jesus is always alive & He knows all that is happening today & for sure it’ll be even more shocking & sad to Him to see how uv’e described Him despite the goods, healings, miracles, joy & truth that He had done 2000 yrs ago for His people & the countless living testimonies that u’ve heard about Him. As the word says, “My people perish because of lack of knowledge”.

Hi YongCK, base on your writing i can see you have quite a wide knowledge of the bible. I believe at one point you have devoted your time and effort in finding God. However due to many disappointments you cannot seem to reconcile Christian and God.

Perhaps the church may disappoint you, perhaps certain Christian may disappoint you, perhaps certain unanswered prayer….or even the way we answer your comments. Honestly we are not perfect. We are still in the progress of learning.

Well, i can only say - do not let man hinder you from seeing God, even us believing Christian. But do note that we are not young, naive and innocent….who are easily “con” into Christianity. We are not fanatic, we can think and reason, we are not stupid! We have tasted the goodness and reality of God.

God is good! He loves you despite of what you wrote of Him. He wants you to experience Him his abundance and eternal life.

From yound I dislike Christianity. I attended primary chinese school. I remembered those church goers were mostly english educated, appeared arrogant and snobbish. Now that I am old and had gone through the vicissitude of life, this view never change but with added insight after reading through the church history, that Christianty is not only harmful to mankind and it is also the main culprit that contributes to this chaotic world. In the word of christian this is called ‘ Testimony ‘. A testimony that there is no god in this world but only men’s creation.

Sometime ago, a group of people comprising Chinese, Japenese and Indian who called themselves the Jehova Withness visited my house. I was surprised that they do not place importance on this godman Jesus but only on god. They also do not believe in theory of hell and rapture. Interestingly the bible they read is also different from yours. Well this is some kind of improvement.

Recently god’s top agent on earth, the Pope was kept busy apologising to the victims of the abused child. Catholic is the very first christian ever existed in this world and that they have been reduced to such a plight is truely pitiful.

Just two cases above to answer to your viewpoint that the more denominations the better. After Martin Luther opened the way for direct interpretation of bible, thousands of denominations ( thosusands of interpretations of bible - god’s language ambiguous ? ) developed and which put the house of christianity in disarray. Maybe we can discuss this phenomenon later.

Finally, the way you extol Jesus or god is idolatrous. Jesus has become a all time superstar. Aren’t god suppose to be omnipotent ? So why is all this necessary.
