Managing May 23, 2007
Posted by Han in : Personal Development , trackbackI am the true vine, and my Father is a vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit he takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. John 15:1-2
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain. John 15:16
Everyone should be successful in every sphere of his or her life. Life is like managing a plantation. In a plantation, you will find many different kinds of tree like mango, rambutan or durian. Each needs to be taken care of separately. You cannot neglect any. Similarly this also applies to your life. There are so many things that you need to handle, for example your study, work, family, relationship, church and ministry. By God’s grace you would want to see success in all these areas.
But in real life this may not be the case. Why? Because success is a process that takes time. Like a tree, it does not grow overnight and bear its fruit the next morning. It takes time to grow. In the same way God is also putting us into a “pruning” process. He removes all the bad attitude and character. He crushes our prides. He deals the hidden motive in our heart. And finally after going through the painful process we are now fit and in a better position. How long does the process take? I don’t know. the common trend is humble obedience shortens the time of waiting and stubborn rebellion prolongs the waiting time.
Sometimes it can be very long. As I mentioned there are so many areas in a person’s life. The pruning process will start from one area and moves to another. God is a gentleman; He comes into the area that you hand Him the control. It may starts with your study then work then family. The sooner you hand to Him, the better it is. But again it may not be the case. For example, you may not have struggle in finance but you fall in love with an unbeliever. Or you are a model husband but you have an attitude problem. Such kind of struggle will prolong the time. A simple point to note is this – the faster you submit and commit it to God, the faster you are put back in the track of success.
Success is a result of commitment. It does not happen by chance. It requires us to be committed. Without the commitment to success, any success that occurs will be circumstantial, rather than intentional. Success is too important to be left circumstances. It needs to be intentional, not accidental. If you want to become billionaire, you couldn’t possibly be sitting at home doing nothing. If you want to get straight ‘A’s, you can never achieve by not studying hard. A plant needs to be fertilized and watered. It needs sun ray, lots of care, cleaning and pruning.
If you want to be successful, there are a lot of things that you need to do. It starts from your mind, having the right attitude and possessing a successful and winning mentality. Next, you must be hardworking, aggressive, creative, focus, not afraid of failure, and many more.
Are you ready?
