I want to be a winner! September 15, 2007
Posted by Han in : Personal Development , trackbackNobody likes to be a loser. Everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to be the number one. Everyone wants to win medal and award. Whether it is the Grammy awards, Nobel price, Olympics competition, the World Cup, an election or simply a school examination; everyone wants to win. God has put in us this spirit of winning. But unfortunately only one gets the medal. Only one person wins! Who is that person? I hope it is you.
If we have been losing for many times and the above title speaks exactly what that is in our heart; I hate to be a loser! Then I will response to you; be a WINNER!
Of course, it is much easier to say than to do. Great success is never an accident. It is the result of personal character and attitude. There are 6 qualities that we need to have in order to win BIG in life.
1) Work with a sense of purpose
“An intelligent man aims at wise actions, but a fool starts off in many directions.”
All winners have a sense of purpose. They know what they want. Deep within them, they have set their target on winning the greatest event. They want to be the world’s best. With this purpose burning in their hearts, they will carry it to conquer every problem, clear every obstacle and jump every hurdle. They are focused. They will plan and they will work until they win.
2) Insist on Integrity
“Dishonest gain will never last, so why take the risk?”
Integrity is being right with God and people. Without integrity, nothings will endure. Winners have to go through the hard way of learning and training. There is no short cut to success. Whoever that takes pill in a running competition will eventually be exposed. Therefore, let us not be afraid of working hard. It will pay off in due time.
3) Never make excuses
“The lazy man is full of excuses”
You will often find people making excuses when they are not wining. They will put the blame on this or that and it is never their own fault. In order to be a winner, we must tell ourselves not to make any excuses and put the blame on others. We must access our lives to see why we are not winning. Work hard and be prepared to face the next battle.
4) Never stop learning
“The intelligent man is always open to new ideas…in fact he looks for them.”
All leaders are learners. In order to win, we must upgrade ourselves. Our current level of capacity is unable to bring us to the next level. We must improve ourselves. The moment we stop learning is the moment we are not growing. A Chinese proverb tells us to live till we are old and to learn till we are old.
5) Economize your time and energy
“There is a right time and a right way to do everything”
All of us have 24 hours a day but winners make full use of it. They know how to manage their time wisely. They have identified and gotten rid of all the idle and unproductive time. Wait for a moment! Look at how much we have wasted our time. Time does not wait for us. It will not spare us. Every second, minute and hour just slip by us without us realizing it. Maximize our time and use it wisely. Work hard and also work smart!
6) Resolve not to quit
“For a righteous man fails seven times, he rises again.”
Winners do not quit and quitters do not win! It is a simple truth. The moment we quit; we lose. They will never lose heart. If they lose, they will keep on trying, keep on trying and keep on trying until they see result. At times, they will feel discourage but they will not give up. They will get up and try all over again.
From today onwards, I pray that you will start winning in every sphere of life. If you fail, it is ok. Get up and try again. If you lose, it is ok, don’t give up and try again. I know it will come. It is nearer and nearer. You are about to win BIG in life
