The power of tithing May 8, 2007
Posted by Han in : Finance , trackbackIn this article, I would like to share the 7 stoppers of paying tithes.
1) I am in lack, how can I give? Many people often say I am in lack, how can I give! But the main reason that I am in lack is because I do not give. We must get the order right.
2) No miracle, very discouraged! Some are discouraged because they do not witness any miracle financially. But often there is an element of waiting. Do not be discouraged, it is coming. God has his own timing.
3) Lack of faith. We need to exercise faith when giving. The blessing is there. We may not see it yet but it is there. Faith is substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
4) Unwilling. Some are unwilling. It is such a struggle to give. They have to pray, pray and pray for confirmation even though the bible encourages and challenges us to tithes.
5) Too calculative. Some are too smart and calculative. They will calculate and allocate all their money for their expenses. At the end of the day they do not have enough to give.
6) It is an Old Testament practice. Some even use this as an excuse – it’s an Old Testament practice. Now we are in the New Testament era. No one practices this anyway. It’s a free choice and it should not be imposed.
7) Money first, God last! Some regard money is more important than God. In a nutshell, they serve money rather than God.
These 7 stoppers are not just stopping us from paying tithes but they are stopping us from experiencing miracles of God. As Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive. The world grabs and takes but God gave. God wants us to develop a generous heart and a giving mentality. Let us take a look at 2 portions of scripture.
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. Malachi 3:10-11
From these verses, I am very sure God will bless you when you give. Give and you will experience MIRACLES like never before.
Please share with us how God actually bless you when you tithe.

Yes! God never fails and neither does his word return void. When God said test me, he really meant it. He will definitely bless us abundantly and beyond our comprehension.
Hey there, just wandering through this site. It is indeed a blessing.Love this article, i will preach it in my cell group. Tithing is one of those things that if overlooked can it cause you to be overlooked by God.
Setting our priorities straight, allows the blessings to flow better in our lives. Thanks han for a great reminder
God
Is so so good i believe, trust the power of tithing.Yes you do your part, God will certaintly do his part. You can not out give God i been tithing all my life but recently for the last 2 months, even though i don’t see the windows of heaven blessings upon my life yet i won’t stop. God word, promises is faithful.
Dear bro. Joseph, pretty encouraged by your personal commitment that even though things may not have been turning up well for the past 2 months but one thing for sure you’ll not stop tithing & amen to God’s promises who will never fail. Many atimes we may expect God to bless us back through monetary forms & many folds more as we tithe faithfully but let us not discount the fact that His blessings covers not only monies but in other forms as well. His DIVINE PROTECTION on us or our family from being harmed while travelling daily or fr. being robbed by thugs or keeping us healthy, peaceful & happy, being able to keep our jobs etc. if quantified I believe could worth much more than the monies we expect to be blessed in return. Hence, when we tithe I am sure God will never shortchange us!
I heard from a man of God. He said it took him 10 years to finally receive his blessings. BUt once we start to reap, it has never stopped ever since then. i think giving to God we need an agricultural mindset. we live in a city, it’s hard to think like a farmer. but God’s principle is that we sow first, He will provide seeds.
Now, the man of God is not living in need anymore. there is nothing that he needs that he doesn’t have. He is living in want. But he said, as long as he continue to sow, he will always reap.
God has no problem bringing money to you, if He can bring money THROUGH you. :)
Agricultural mindset…
I’ve learned a new term from Keith’s comment..it’s agricultural mindset. True enough, for those who live in a city, it’s pretty difficult to think like a farmer. Many a times we want God to bless us instantaneously. For example, I plant a seed and I expect it to grow into a tree by tomorrow and the next day I can eat its fruit. But often this is not the way (although all things are possible with God)!
The man of God waited for 10 years. In the process of waiting God also break, make and mould the person into someone who is capable of handling the blessings.
