Posted by Han in : Finance , trackbackThe problem is, when you have more, it is still not enough! People who have more money than you still complain that they have problem, either they have not enough or they are in debt! It has been said, “Money is a good servant, but a bad master.” And do you know who said, “The love of money is the root of all evil”?
In life, we often worry about money. People kill each other for money. Family betrays each other for money. Marriages call off because of money. Many commit suicide over money.
Debt is one of the biggest problems.
Sometimes it is because we continue to spend more money than we have. At other times, it may be due to the wrong decision. Debt always brings much stress; worry and it cause sleepless night.
Money causes many temptations; sometimes when we are lacking money, but other times even when we have enough. We can be tempted to steal money from our place of work. Or to take bribes. Or to cheat the tax system. Women may even consider selling their bodies. But what may seem a small thing to start with, will make it easier to take more next time. It is a snow-ball effect. It gets bigger and bigger until it got bad!
‘Peer pressure’ also causes us want to compare with our friends. We feel that if others have certain things, we are under pressure to have them also, so that we do not lose out! This thing happens in the poor societies as well as the rich ones.
We are also bombard with lots of advertisements everyday and these advertisements tell us that we can only enjoy true satisfaction and happiness if we own this new product.
Gambling in the hope of making more money is a big problem in many societies. Today, most countries have a National Lottery. Everyone hopes for a big strike. But gambling is like a drug - it is addictive and deadly. It destroys life and people in their surrounding suffer!
Why does money cause us to have so much problems?
How can we make money our slave instead of our master?
Is there a revolutionary way to deal with the whole problem of money? Yes! We need to have the correct biblical perspective about money. God can help us because He loves us and cares for us. He wants us to enjoy His abundant life.
1) God wants us to enjoy His abundant blessings
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
The thief (devil) comes only to give us headache, problem and financial crisis. Initially we may taste a little bit of his goodness but eventually it will kill and destroy! But God is good. He wants us to enjoy His abundant blessing. As in direct opposite from the thief, we may suffer bitterness initially but eventually all the bitterness will turn into sweetness in Christ.
2) God will take care of all our needs
So, I tell you this. Do not be troubled about what you will eat or drink to keep alive. Do not be troubled about what you will wear on your body. Life itself is worth more than food, and the body is worth more than clothes. Look at the birds that fly in the air. They do not plant or cut or keep any food. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them. Are you not worth more than birds? Matthew 6:25-26
“My God will supply all your needs through his riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
If we turn our life over to God, He can look after every part of our life, including finance. He promises to do this, for those who belong to Him.
This does not mean God will make us rich. It does not mean that He will give His children (those who are really following Him) what they want. What they ‘want’ is not the same as what they ‘need’!
3) All that we have belongs to God
With our life in His hands, we can actually receive a new way of living. Life, money, everything, will seem different. If we belong to God, then everything we have should be treated as His, not ours. And we will find that we no longer try to look for satisfactions and happiness in money and possessions.
Conclusion
I want to share 5 simple steps to financial breakthrough:
1) Pray and ask God to come into your financial situation.
2) Believe deeply that God wants you to prosper and have abundant life.
3) Do not focus on the current terrible situation.
4) Have faith and expect a miracle from Him.
5) Remember: All that you have belongs to God (even if you lose all, you did not lose God and God is able to prosper you once again!)
All the Best,
Han
