Diligence Produces Wealth September 20, 2007
Posted by Han in : Finance, Personal Development , trackbackLazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4
Laziness leads only to poverty but diligence produces wealth. The lazy inherit nothing. Look at Ecclesiastes 10:18, Laziness leads to a sagging roof; idleness leads to a leaky house. The lazy waits for everything to tumble down and yet not do anything!
However the diligent through perseverance produces wealth. So what’s the cure for the lazy? The remedy is to develop diligence. This is what the bible says in Proverbs 6:6 - Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! There is something in the ant that the lazy lacks - initiative, self-motivated, urgency of time, the ability to complete the jobs, and the necessary planning for the future.
How do you cultivate the beauty of diligence? It is simply by putting into action on the following areas.
1) Be diligent to remember the truths that God has shown you. (see Deuteronomy 4:9)
2) Be diligent to teach God’s word to your children and grandchildren. (see Deuteronomy 6:7)
3) Be diligent to keep all of God’s commandments. (see Deuteronomy 6:17)
4) Be diligent to guard your affections. (see Proverbs 4:23)
5) Be diligent to add to your faith. (see 2 Peter 1:10)
7) Be diligent to minister to other Christians. (see Hebrew 6:10-12)
8) Be diligent to in seeking the Lord. (see Hebrew 11:6)
9) Be diligent to remove roots of bitterness. (see Hebrew 12:15)
10) Be diligent to avoid swindlers and frauds. (see Proverbs 23:1-3)
11) Be diligent to know the condition of those under your spiritual care. (see Proverbs 27:23)
Once again, laziness leads you to nowhere, but diligence will reap its rewards. What are these rewards?
1) You will be rich.
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10:4
2) You will be given authority.
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. Proverbs 12:24
3) You will enjoy your possessions.
The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions. Proverbs 12:27
4) You will be fulfilled.
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. Proverbs 13:4
5) You will be creative and resourceful.
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Proverbs 21:5
6) You will obtain favor.
He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him. Proverbs 11:27 (KJV)
7) You will be honor.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)
Therefore choose for yourself, to be lazy and get nothing or to be diligent and enjoy its rewards.

Thank you so much. I am teaching a class called “Marriage Done Right!” based on Marriage on the Rock by Jimmy Evans. An simply awesome teaching that needs to be shared with everyone. This week the lesson is the Law of Pursuit, which simply means that marriage takes work. Thank you for this resource so much. It is a blessing.
Wow! I now understand why so many people advise me to read the book of Proverbs. There is so much wisdom there! I thank you for presenting biblical truths so that we can have something to stand on as we fight and press on towards diligence. This statement that you mentioned sums up everything: “Therefore choose for yourself, to be lazy and get nothing or to be diligent and enjoy its rewards.” If I will be rewarded for being diligent why wouldn’t I do just that? Thanks again for the encouragement, Han!
