MOTHERS – God’s most precious gift May 2, 2007

Posted by Han in : Family and Children , trackback

Mother’s Day is widely celebrated throughout the world on every second Sunday in the month of May. On this special day, many families and churches will make an effort to honor Mothers. Other then the air, water, plants and sunlight which are God’s precious gift to mankind, “Mothers” are also simply one of His best gifts to His people, both rich and poor.

Mothers may come in all shapes and sizes but each one of us can only have ONE Mother. Mothers hold the most amazing and incredible job in the world, as they need to patiently care and raise up the next generation of citizens.

God had created Mothers to be God’s co-workers in producing and raising up children. Their job responsibilities in caring for their children are beyond description. She is the one that changed your diaper, gave you your bottle in the wee hours when you were hungry, bathed and dressed you. She is the one who tended to you when you were sick, wishes she could have bore your pain, but unable to even share it with you. When you make mistakes or feel like quitting, she never fails to cheer and encourage you. When you were disobedient and rebellious, she is the one who worries and pray for you so that you could turn away from your wicked ways. There is none like a Mother.

All of us had once spent nine months in our Mother’s womb warmly curled up. As such, we are all very much a part of Mother’s flesh and bone. This perhaps explains why most children or babies tend to be really sticky to their Mothers. Hence, when a child rebels or goes against his or her Mother, they will feel excruciating pain and sadness as if a part of their flesh had been bitten off. What more when a child dies, the Mother would feel that a part of her has died as well.

Like God’s love, a Mother’s love for her children is unconditional, unwavering and unceasing. And because of this, many of us tend to take their love for granted and at times even try to take advantage of it when we should have repaid them even more. Their sacrifices of pain, grief and sorrows, which they went through to make their children happy and secure, are immeasurable and invaluable.

Many of us are always busy doing the usual things in our life and tend to forget about doing the most important basic thing – loving our family. Mother is where family began. Without Mother there would never be a “family”. If you have not been home and have not met your loving Mother for sometime due to many reasons, why not try to make this Mother’s Day the most wonderful day of her life. According to a survey, 92% of man had not done this – cooking for their Mother. So Man, try cooking and see how your Mother reacts. You may also take her out to eat, buy her gifts or flowers but amongst all BE WITH HER on Mother’s day to show that you truly care and love her. Let us not take it for granted that our precious Mother will always be there waiting for us when we get home just like how when she used to always patiently wait for us at the gates to return from school and up till we get off from our school bus. The bible says in Deuteronomy 5:16, that if we want to live long in the land that the Lord gave us, we need to HONOR our father and mother.

For all their hours of dedication and sacrifices, God bless these “Special Mothers”.
