LOVE July 6, 2007
Posted by Han in : Family and Children , trackbackChildren spell LOVE as TIME not MONEY. Our role as a husband is not just bringing back the money but to spend quality time with our kids.
However I know it is often very challenging to find the right balance between work and home. There are times your work demands more but this should not be forever, 365 days! One whole year you are BUSY!
I would like to make some practical suggestions on how you can spend time with your kids:
1) Set aside some time after dinner to help your kids with their homework.
2) Listen to your wife and children.
3) Create some weekly activity: Saturday jogging, Sunday shopping or Monday prayer.
4) Include children in your planning and decision-making regarding things like weekly chore assignments, vacation plans and special monthly events.
5) Hold family meeting once a month to discuss rules, rewards and punishments.
6) Be both loving and firm in setting, negotiating and enforcing rules.
7) Let the answering machine take calls during the dinner hour and at bedtime. Or, take the phone off the hook.
8) Once a month bring your family out to a restaurant.
9) It’s better to play 15 or 20 minutes spontaneously and have fun once in a while.
10) Find one common mission or cause that your family loves to do together.
If you are very busy, do take some time off. Spend it with your family. Work never ends! I don’t mean you don’t have to work but please do not neglect your family. You don’t have to plan something grand and big, just keep it simple! Remember the focus is on spending quality time.
Isn’t it true? LOVE = TIME not MONEY
