Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest - and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Proverbs 6:6-11

How can we be wise? The bible asks us to take a look at the ant. Indeed, there are lots to learn in this tiny little. They are found everywhere. They move in line. There is a lot of unity and teamwork. In fact, the bible says it has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. That’s simply amazing! One important characteristic about ants is they never stop! They are busy traveling or carrying something. They are always on the move. Very seldom you see them stay put (unless they are eating).

What about our lives? Do you have a plan and a purpose in your life? Do you know where you are going and what you will be doing in 3-5 years? Do you live your live to its maximum potential and fulfillment? I know these are not easy questions; it takes time to think. But…did you sit down and think? The world is moving rapidly. Technology is advancing. People are progressing. But…what about you?

Indeed, go to the ant! It stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. The ant knows how to prepare for the future. There are 2 things that we deter us from a great future. First is laziness. Nothing will happen if you sit down and do nothing. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest - and poverty will come on you. Plan and do something, for example take up a degree or start a business.

Do no let your failure and the past deter you. Second is complacency. Complacency is the enemy of advancement. If we tend to be happy with all our achievements and accomplishments then be careful…complacency may slips in. Like the ant, let us never stop but move to conquer greater height in our studies, career, family, church and ministry.
