Serving the King of kings and the Lord of lords April 25, 2007
Posted by Han in : Church and Ministry , trackbackSometimes back in my company, we had some high profile visitor. Prior to his arrival, we had to do a lot of preparation in the office – shampoo the carpet, clean out our cubicle, decorate the reception area, setup the conference room and get the food ready. Everyone had to dress nicely and formally.
The main highlight was to conduct a presentation on the performance of our company. A day of presentation took us weeks of preparation. You can sense the tension and excitement in the office. Everyone was very serious. We worked hard together as a team. All were done with a purpose, to leave a good and lasting impression for the high profile visitor on our company.
Have you ever imagined you were working for the Prime Minister regardless of what you were doing. Whether you are his cleaner, chef, driver, bodyguard or any other thing, I guess you must be proud of it. Why? Because he is the Prime Minister. Whether you were directly or indirectly working for him, I am pretty sure you were very very proud of it, right? Honestly, it is not the job (though they have different level of importance) but it is the “WHO” you are associated to.
Question: Last Sunday when you go to church, were you proud of serving the Kings of kings and Lord of lords the great and mighty God? Were you filled with lots of excitement, pleasure and honor as tough you were working for the Prime Minister? Were you serious about your ministry? Did you give the best and offer all that you have to Him? OR…
YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO DRAG YOUR FEET TO CHURCH. You have been working late. You did not have enough sleep and you were required to wake up early. You were feeling tired, unmotivated and restless. It was such a torture to serve! If this is what you are facing now, I want to share with you one important principle that will transform your ministry and serving.
IT IS THE “WHO” THAT IS IMPORTANT. It must sink deep down into your heart or else, you will not be able to experience breakthroughs. If you see yourself as serving the King of kings and Lord or lords Jesus Christ, son of the living God, then your ministry and serving will be different. It will be such a privilege and honor. Imagine if you were to meet someone important (maybe the President of your country), I am sure you will wake up early, get dress up, be prepared, leaves home early and be on time. You will be at your best to meet Mr. President. This is exactly the same. Strictly speaking, we are all serving the great and mighty King who is much greater than any one else in this world.
So, it is the “who” that determines your attitude. Why do you need to struggle in your ministry and serving? It is because you had failed to see that you are serving the Mighty God. You regard your ministry and serving as if it is like any other job. If it is like any other job then it is like working for someone else. With such kind of attitude, your ministry and serving will not last but eventually end up in frustrations and discouragements.
Finally, I think the greatest thing one can do on this earth is to serve the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ. Just by knowing “WHO” you serve, your ministry and serving will never be the same again.
